A quick guide to Laminate Kitchen Worktops
Laminate worktops offer an affordable and very practical solution. Modern tops are very hard-wearing and as long as treated sensibly will with-stand the rigours of modern life. Tops are usually available in a wide range of colours and styles making them easy to match with your choice of furniture.
Laminate worktops need next to no maintenance as they are non-porous, the only thing to be aware is that gloss worktops may show scratches and marks. They can be supplied with 1 or 2 edges post-formed and a wide range of lengths and sizes.
Most kitchen fitters are used to working with laminate worktops and will have the tools and jigs required for cutting, shaping and routing. Joints can be mitred, using a butt & scribe joint and jointing clamps and bolts to produce an almost seamless finish which can then be finished using colourfill. Cut exposed edges are finished afterwards by applying worktop edging supplied with the tops.
Well known brands include Bushboard, Duropall and Axiom by Formica.
