A quick guide to Wooden Kitchen Worktops
Hardwood worktops will give years of excellent service if looked after correctly and the can give a classic, timeless and warm feel to your home. A wide range of colours and finishes are available including Maple, Beech, Cherry, Oak, Walnut, Iroko, White Ash, Bamboo, Wenge, Mahogony and Rubberwood
Hardwood worktops will need treating with Danish Oil or Linseed Oil and you should speak to your supplier to find out how frequently your tops will need re-oiling. Minor dents and damage can be easily repaired with wax sticks but hot plates, pots and pans should always be placed onto trivets or hot-rods.
You should always use a knowlegeable, experienced fitter as wooden worktops need correct fitting to ensure they have an expansion gap and the ability to breathe and move. Mitre joints should use clamps and biscuits for a professional fit.
