Did you spot the Britannia range cooker in David & Samantha Cameron’s kitchen?
Have you seen this picture in the national press? It created quite some excitement and this time it wasn’t about the fashion choice of the First Lady; it was about the DVD and book collection of the prime minister and his wife!
Although some might find it interesting to know that their DVD collection includes Armageddon and Brideshead Revisited, I find it far more interesting to look at the kitchen.
Thinking of the infamous “John Lewis list” it was not surprising to see that the national press initially reported that the modern kitchen was bought at this well-known department store. Later it was reported that the kitchen came from Roundhouse. It’s perhaps also no surprise to find a Dualit toaster in the kitchen. It’s more energy efficient to use a toaster than an oven grill to make toast.
The range cooker is slightly hidden from view, but I can reveal that it is a Britannia range cooker in stainless steel! We already knew that David Cameron gave his cast-iron Aga oven the cold shoulder in an attempt to cut his carbon footprint. So, with its two A rated ovens, the Britannia range cooker is an excellent choice.
