Poggenpohl Kitchens show innovation in production, carcase and drawer design
It’s not only the proverbial devil that’s in the detail. It’s also the minor and major details in quality and functionality that make all the difference in a kitchen from premium manufacturer Poggenpohl. Whether inset fronts and doors or the innovative design of drawers and pull-outs. Whether side sections in a look to match the fronts or the special honeycomb carcase in lightweight design. Every detail of a Poggenpohl kitchen is part of a logical whole and an expression of exquisite craftsmanship and quality production.
Exceptional designs often take innovative solutions to turn them into reality. Poggenpohl, for instance, employs a specially developed lightweight construction to manufacture the PLUSMODO® worktop which, although 130 millimetres thick, appears to float. High-tech lightweight panels are also used throughout the cabinetry of the Porsche Design kitchen P´7340. They consist of thin wooden facings of just a few millimetres that are adhered to a reinforcing “kraft paper honeycomb” core. This not only reduces weight but at the same time requires 40 per cent less material. Because sustainability is the central maxim behind everything Poggenpohl makes and does.
Also unique in the kitchen furniture industry are the inset fronts and doors of the Porsche Design kitchen. And because they have been given a handleless look, they open and close by a motor-controlled mechanism.
Poggenpohl has also developed yet another special carcase for the new +ARTESIO® because typical design features of the new kitchen concept are the visible side sections. Hitherto, kitchen side panels have normally been made of laminated chipboard. Now for the first time, the +ARTESIO® kitchen’s new carcase permits side panels in the same design as the front to create a matching look that’s carried all the way through – with front and sides in glass for instance. Incidentally, this carcase design is a unique innovation in kitchen architecture.
With immediate effect, all Poggenpohl kitchens will come with newly designed drawers and pull-outs developed in-house. The internal side panels are of equal thickness from top to bottom and meet the base at right angles. The special part about this new pull-out design is the side profile made of lightweight yet sturdy aluminium in a thickness of just 8 mm. Connection of the drawer runner with the side profile, currently the thinnest on the market, and attachment of the front panel are the result of exacting, fine craftsmanship. All versions also feature power-assisted opening and the pull-outs are additionally available with integrated LED lighting that is automatically activated on opening to provide the perfect “perspective”.
The new design of drawers and pull-outs also provides even greater flexibility in organising the interiors to suit personal needs yet better. This is where Poggenpohl offers two organiser systems for drawers and pull-outs. The modular box system with a choice of real-wood modular inserts in walnut or maple includes all-purpose boxes with adjustable cross dividers, cutlery trays, spice-jar, knife as well as plate holders. Alternatively, a high-quality modular system is available with a linoleum-lined base and variable partitions in aluminium or walnut for dividing up the interior.
Whichever kitchen design and whichever organiser options the Poggenpohl customer ultimately chooses, one aspect is common to them all: their premium quality and practical functionality.
