Siemens launches revolutionary i-Dos self-dosing washing machine
Siemens has today launched the i-Dos washing machine, an integrated dosing system, helping to reduce water consumption by up to 7,062 litres per year.
The i-Dos works by adding just the right amount of laundry detergent required for each load, fully automatically and to millilitre precision. This not only saves time and detergent, but also reduces water consumption by up to 7,062 litres per year1 while guaranteeing perfect washing results every single time.
According to surveys on laundry habits in select European countries conducted by Siemens, 90 percent of all consumers do not use the right amount of detergent when doing their laundry2. But the overdosing of laundry detergent leads to problems, especially for the environment, as excessive foam will result in additional rinsing cycles and therefore a disproportionate increase in water consumption. This problem is eliminated by the Siemens i-Dos integrated precision dosing system.
The dosing of laundry detergent depends on a number of factors including: water hardness, degree of soiling, load size, drum capacity, and fabric type. But even measuring cups can often be way off the mark. The i-Dos automatic dosing system has finely tuned sensors that automatically register both the amount of laundry and the different types of fabric contained in a load, i.e. cotton, synthetic fabrics, or mixed loads. Even the laundry’s degree of soiling can now be determined with great precision. The machine calculates the perfect washing sequence and the precise temperature control then carefully adjusts the laundry detergent doses administered in several steps.
Convenience is a huge benefit of the i-Dos. It contains a chamber that will hold enough liquid detergent for 20 loads of laundry, two automatic programmes for everyday laundry: the “Automatic gentle” cycle for all easy-care textiles, sportswear, etc.; and the “Automatic” cycle for all durable textiles such as coloureds, bed linen, towels, etc. The i-Dos also contains a manual dosing compartment for those who want to use detergent powder, tablets or pearls every now and then, or who wish to use a special stain remover.
