Sticking a label on water efficient showering
It is no secret that the UK housing stock and commercial, industrial and public buildings often use many different types of water supply systems due to our heritage of low pressure systems and the gradual increase in high pressure systems installed in new buildings or converted in existing ones.
All this makes the simple science of providing a good shower into a minefield. What suits one system does not always perform satisfactorily on the other types. For example a hand shower developed for low pressures can use a lot of water at high pressures and those developed for high pressures often do not give adequate spray patterns at low pressures.
Croydex recognised this during the development of many of their recent hand showers and decided to introduce products that not only operate efficiently at low pressures but also work at high pressures equally well. On top of this they developed products that can save up to 50% of water consumption (more on some models) but still offer exhilarating performance whatever the pressure and flow.
Croydex have been actively selling water efficient shower accessories for many years and have now been recognised by the Bathroom Manufacturer’s Association (BMA) with several of its water efficient shower handsets now included in the Water Efficient Product Labelling Scheme (WELPS).
The Scheme provides easy access to a database of bathroom products that when installed and used correctly are proven to use less water, save energy and save money. Proud to be a part of such a worthwhile initiative, Croydex now has no fewer than seven shower handsets listed in the Scheme.
Offering the latest water-saving technology that doesn’t compromise on the overall performance of the shower, each of the handsets included in the WELP scheme feature Croydex’s innovative Eco Function. The optional water saving device reduces water usage by up to 50 per cent compared to flow rates through the hand shower without it fitted. Simple to fit, the device is inserted into handset or showerhead during installation and can be removed as and when required. It can be used in conjunction with most systems, excluding electric showers.
Croydex shower handsets included in the Water Efficient Product Labelling Scheme include the Contour Maxi Single and Four Function, Profile Maxi Three and Four Function, Profile Medio Four Function, Solo Single Function and Tech Three Function.
Croydex Product Director, Peter Pegden, commented: “At a time when the building and home improvement industries are focusing ever-more on environmental and sustainability issues it’s crucial that as manufacturers we do our bit to ensure the products are available to help them fulfill the latest requirements. To have the official seal of approval of the WELP scheme on so many of our showering products is testament to the hard work we put in at Croydex to ensure our products are as water efficient as possible without reducing the showering sensation.”
All Croydex showers included in the Scheme operate on a flow rate of eight or less litres per minute, with the majority boasting a flow rate of six litres or less and all combine contemporary styling and top performance with their excellent water saving credentials.
